Practical InformationPractical Information How to reach Erice A limousine or a bus of the Ettore Majorana Centre (EMFCSC) will be available, provided you have correctly submitted the Travel Form. Upon arrival at the airport or railway station, look for the EMFCSC driver holding a sign with the name of the Ettore Majorana Foundation. Missing driver If the driver is not there within 30 minutes, call the EMFCSC Secretariat: +39 0923 869133. Taxi costs may not be reimbursed unless explicitly authorised by EMFCSC. Check-in Upon arrival at the San Rocco reception desk, you will receive your room assignment, folder, and EMFCSC badge. Badge The badge must always be worn inside and outside EMFCSC facilities, especially in restaurants, excursions, and social events. Accommodation Accommodation is arranged by EMFCSC in their premises or nearby hotels. Students may be asked to share rooms and may indicate preferred roommates in the Travel Form. Accompanying persons Accompanying persons have the same access and duties as regular participants and must wear the EMFCSC badge. Names should be indicated in the Travel Form. Special cases (children, accompanying nurse, etc.) should be communicated to the Scientific Secretary. Conference site Oral sessions take place at the P. Dirac Hall (San Domenico – Blackett Institute). Poster sessions are held near the Feynman Hall (San Rocco – Rabi Institute). Smaller rooms for group meetings are available upon request. Technical facilities Moderate photocopying is free. Wi-Fi is available in several areas of the Majorana Centre. Meals & Restaurants Meals at associated restaurants are included: show your badge and sign the restaurant list. Extras (beverages or non-standard items) must be paid separately. Special dietary needs (vegetarian, kosher, etc.) must be arranged directly with the restaurant, EMFCSC can assist if needed. Breakfast & coffee breaks Breakfast is served in the San Rocco coffee area. Coffee, tea, snacks, fruit, Sicilian sweets, and water are available 24/7 at San Rocco and in the San Domenico coffee area. Get-together An informal get-together is held at 9:30 p.m. on the arrival day (San Rocco – Marsala Room). Arriving before 5:00 p.m. is recommended to settle in comfortably. Smoking policy Smoking is forbidden inside all EMFCSC facilities and restaurants. Dress & weather Erice is 800 m above sea level. Even in Spring, evenings may be chilly, foggy, or windy. Bring warm clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, a hat, and sun protection. No formal dress code is required. EMFCSC and participation The Majorana Centre is a scientific foundation, not a holiday agency. Participants are expected to attend all scientific sessions. Only one official excursion is planned, additional excursions or beach trips during working days are discouraged. Contact |
